Cook It Step by Step: My DELICIOUS brownies.

You might remember last Friday in my It's Finally Friday post I said about wanting to bake brownies from my lovely new cookery book Cook It Step by Step. Well my parents said I could so on Monday I made the yummiest brownies ever - all by myself.

Now, I'd never baked on my own before. I did it once with my younger sister but my mum was supervising us and plus she helped us with most of it. But this time I did it truly by myself and they turned out brilliant as well.  I LOVE brownies - they are so scrumptiously fantastically delicious. And these certainly were delicious.

Here's the recipe in case you want to bake delicious, gooey brownies (courtesy of DK and Cook It Step by Step).

90g plain chocolate
150g unsalted butter, diced, plus extra for greasing
125g cocoa powder
1/2 tsp baking powder
a pinch of salt
2 eggs
300g soft light brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
100g pecan nuts, chopped, optional

baking tin
baking parchment
3 medium bowls
wooden spoon
small saucepen
palette knife
oven gloves

Step 1. Grease and line the base of the baking tin with baking parchment. Ask an adult to preheat the oven to 180 C (350 F/Gas 4).

Step 2. Break the chocolate into a bowl and add the chunks of butter. Melt the butter and chocolate over a saucepan of barely simmering water, stirring occasionally.

Step 3. Remove the bowl from the heat and allow the chocolate to cool slightly. In a separate bowl sieve the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt.

Step 4. In a third bowl beat the eggs and then add the sugar and vanilla extract. Stir the ingredients together until they are just combined.

Step 5. Fold the melted chocolate into the beaten egg mixture using a spatula. Then gently fold in the flour mixture and nuts, if using. You shouldn't be able to see any flour once it's all mixed together.

Step 6. Spoon the mixture into the tin, smooth the top with a palette knife and bake for 25 minutes. Allow it to cool in the tin before cutting it into squares.

And those are 6 steps to perfection!!!
